Abstract

The present study aimed to examine the effect of the LEAD strategy on developing the attitudes of fifth-grade literary track female students toward the subject of sociology. To achieve this objective, the researcher formulated the aforementioned null hypotheses. The research sample consisted of 52 female students from the fifth-grade literary stream, distributed into two groups: 25 students in the experimental group and 27 students in the control group, selected randomly. The experimental group was taught using the LEAD strategy, while the control group was taught using the traditional method. The researcher ensured equivalence between the two groups in terms of age (measured in months), parents’ educational attainment, and attitudes toward sociology. To achieve the research objectives, a research instrument was developed. Due to the absence of suitable pre-existing tools, the researcher constructed a scale to measure attitudes toward sociology consisting of 30 items. To ensure its validity, the instrument was presented to a panel of experts and reviewers to assess its face validity. After identifying the prescribed content from the sociology textbook for the 2023–2024 academic year, the researcher formulated 113 behavioral objectives and designed model lesson plans for each topic included in the experiment. The experiment was conducted from March 3, 2024, to April 18, 2024. Following the implementation of the research instruments, the data were statistically analyzed using the Statistical Package for the Social Sciences (SPSS). The results revealed a statistically significant difference at the 0.05 level between the mean scores of the experimental group, who studied sociology using the LEAD strategy, and those of the control group on the attitude scale, in favor of the experimental group. Additionally, a statistically significant difference was found at the 0.05 level between the pre-test and post-test scores of the experimental group on the attitude scale, in favor of the post-test. Based on these findings, the researcher presented a set of conclusions and recommendations and suggested directions for future research.
