Abstract

This research examines the definite noun (al) in Surat At-Taghabun by combining traditional analysis with a modern linguistic perspective on transformational grammar. The study focused on identifying and classifying the relativistic structures of definite nouns (al), then interpreting them within the framework of deep and surface structures. The results demonstrated that (al) is not merely a formal definite article; rather, it is a grammatical and semantic determinant that contributes to controlling reference and directing meaning within the Qur'anic text.
