Psychological Pain and Its Relationship to Self-Compassion Among Preparatory School Students

The current research aims to identify the level of psychological pain and its relationship to self-compassion among middle school students, and to identify differences between both variables according to gender (males - females) and branch (scientific - literary). To achieve the research objectives, a sample of (300) middle school students in the Mosul City Center was selected for the research, comprising (150) males and (150) females. The researcher constructed a psychological pain scale, consisting of (30) items in its final form, and a self-compassion scale, consisting of (30) items in its final form. The researcher used validity and reliability criteria for the scale. The research reached several results, namely:
1- The level of psychological pain is statistically significant.
2- There are differences in the level of psychological pain according to gender, in favor of males.
3- There are no differences in the level of psychological pain according to academic branch.
